Welcome to Une île lumineuse! This site provides free access to the largest digital collection of resources on Twentieth Century Haiti. Transport back to an exciting time of intellectual and independence struggles, tragedy along the Dominican frontier, and political and social transformation. Here you will find archival manuscripts, old books and photographs, government documents, and 80 years of Haiti’s daily newspaper le Nouvelliste.

This collection is hosted by Digital Library of the Caribbean, and is a collaboration between les Archives Nationales and la Bibliothèque Nationale d’Haïti in Port-au-Prince, la Bibliothèque Haïtienne des Pères du Saint-Esprit, le Nouvelliste, the University of Florida and other Florida universities.
